“Window Views on a Fine Day (窗景日和)” - A Solo Exhibition by Chien-i Wu
EVERRICH is committed to promoting Taiwanese culture and has collaborated with collage artist Chien-i Wu to create mixed-media artworks inspired by Taiwan’s old iron window designs. This fusion of historical culture and architectural space offers a fresh perspective on local culture.
Chien-i Wu is a visual artist specializing in mixed-media installations. She focuses on everyday cultural phenomena, incorporating contemporary materials like tape, which she codes and assembles into unique visual imagery. By interacting with various architectural spaces, her work forms relationships with the surrounding environment. Recently, through both local and international residencies and on-site installations, Wu has developed works with distinct regional characteristics. In 2017, she became the first Taiwanese artist invited to participate in the Taiwan FB Office Art Project (FB AIR PROGRAM), transforming the unique landscapes of Taipei into installations that evoke shared memories. In 2019, she was invited again to contribute to the “FB AIRL Poster Design Commission” for the Taiwan FB office. In 2024, Wu was selected for the BankART residency in Japan, participating in Yokohama Triennale’s extended exhibition, BankART Life 7, with a piece installed in the Shin-Takashima Station commercial headquarters passage.
Her works layer vivid tape colors and patterns to depict local textures rich with historical traces, creating multiple translucent interfacing devices. These installations use various forms of perspective, light, and shadow to transform real-world symbols into flat color blocks, which then morph into three-dimensional spaces that transcend time and space.
