Imprint of Spring (印采盈春), a New Year’s Special Exhibition by the International Printmaking Center, National Taiwan Normal University
EVERRICH and the International Printmaking Center at National Taiwan Normal University have come together to organize this exhibition where traditional art is blended with modern design to promote the re-innovation and reinterpretation of Taiwanese traditional arts in contemporary society. The exhibition not only highlights the creative talents of Taiwanese artists but also offers international visitors a unique opportunity to experience Taiwan’s vibrant printmaking culture.
New Year Prints focuses on joyful New Year themes, seasonal festivals, and innovative New Year paintings which are created using printmaking materials. These New Year Prints represent the fusion and innovation of traditional folk culture with artistic creativity as artists utilize various printmaking techniques, such as intaglio, relief, lithography, and screen printing, to express their creativity, culminating in a diverse, dynamic, and festive collection of works that showcases the richness and infinite variations of the art form whilst also reflecting Taiwan’s success in printmaking education and its promotion over the years.
Founded in 2014, the International Printmaking Center at National Taiwan Normal University is currently led by Professor Liao Hsiu Ping, with Professor Chung You Hui serving as artistic director. Other faculty members, including Professors Lin Hsueh Ching and Lin Fu Chuan, along with instructors Yang Wen Yu and Chiang Chih Hsuan, contribute to teaching and administration. The center focuses on the development of and international exchanges around Taiwanese printmaking, with key activities including the collection of classic print works from Taiwan and abroad, hosting international printmaking invitational exhibitions, conducting printmaking technique workshops, and organizing academic lectures and international conferences on printmaking. This exhibition, “Imprint of Spring,” features works by professors from the International Printmaking Center at National Taiwan Normal University, along with contributions from Professors Su Hsien Fa and Lee Cheng Ming from the Department of Fine Arts, members of the Evergreen Graphic Art Association, and other outstanding Taiwanese printmaking artists. As we welcome the new year with a fresh outlook, may the ‘Imprint of Spring’ exhibition exude a vibrant atmosphere filled with joy and best wishes for a peaceful and happy New Year!
